PINK FLAMINGOS
Two very pretty, very pink plastic flamingos stand in front of Divine’s trailer. She lives here under the pseudonym of Babs Johnson together her mother, who is addicted to eggs, her delinquent son, and a friend, and enjoys her reputation as the “filthiest person alive”. But Divine is to be dethroned: the Marbles do everything they can to themselves become the “filthiest people alive”. However, neither selling heroin to elementary school children nor the illegal baby-ring they run will lead them to success, because Divine and her demented family are already on the way to stop them. With his third feature film – An Exercise in Poor Taste! – John Waters finally touches pop culture: “Pink Flamingos” became a veritable “Midnight Movie” phenomenon is several US cities, and with its wild mixture of camp aesthetics and shock-lust, it is still a sensation today!
