FEMALE TROUBLE

Fr, 29.09. | 23:00

Dawn Davenport is a troublemaker: when her parents don’t give her “cha-cha heels” for Christmas, she flies into a rage and runs away from home. “Female Trouble” tells of the trials and tribulations of a profoundly immoral protagonist, who nevertheless – or perhaps especially for that reason – becomes a kind of fashion icon. John Water’s next film following “Pink Flamingos” was partly inspired by the director’s acquaintance with Tex Watson, who was given the death sentence as a Manson Family member for his part in the Tate/LaBianca murders. “Female Trouble” revolves equally naively and cruelly around the question of whether crime is beautiful, a question that Waters would have answered, at least at that time, with a resounding yes: certainly his own film “crimes” had been embraced by the art scene in the years before.

Before the screening the Battle of the Beehives will take place!
